Award of Approval of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC Module D to Alicat Workboats
As of the 29th May 2002 under the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC it has been a mandatory European Union law that pressure containing products (above 0.5bar) manufactured to be placed or made available to the European market and to be CE marked are designed and fabricated to ensure a high level of protection of public interests, mainly the health and safety of persons and the protection of property.
Companies wishing to comply with this directive must meet the appropriate stringent conformity assessment module/s and Alicat Workboats have recently been awarded Module D. This module will allow the company to produce pressure vessels within the scope of fabrication and/or give confidence for present and potential clients in our Management Systems to manufacture them.
With this certification Alicat have opened up additional manufacturing opportunities for pressure vessels up to 500bar (approx 7250 psi) in carbon, stainless or exotic steels from 1.25”NB up to 36”NB (DN 32 up to DN 900).
