Design

The design for the Alicat Workboat is supplied by Global Marine Design - an Australian based aluminium catamaran specialist.

The design for the Alicat Workboat was created by Gavin Mair, founder and owner of Global Marine Design Pty (GMD). The company was established nearly 25 years ago by Gavin in Perth, Australia.

Initially called ‘Mair Yacht Designs’ the company was renamed ‘Global Marine Designs Pty’ when its international reputation started to grow.

Since 1986, the company’s status as a leading aluminium boat designer has become well established. Over the last 15 years it has produced over 250 new and innovative designs with more than 200 in operation.

GMD was chosen as the designer for the Alicat workboats thanks to its outstanding reputation for designing reliable, high quality vessels. The Alicat is unique in that the designs for both the 20m and 17m version are DNV approved. All vessels are manufactured in-house by a team of highly skilled and experienced boat builders and fitters directly employed by RDDE.

While Alicat Workboats Ltd is the sole manufacturer of the Alicat in the UK, it has secured the exclusive rights to the GMD design throughout Europe, USA and West Africa.
